So, how can you retrain yourself to move beyond judgment?


Here are three key strategies:

  • Practice Self-Compassion: Treat yourself with the same kindness and understanding you would offer a friend. Notice your self-critical thoughts and challenge them with more realistic self-talk. Celebrate your successes, big and small, and learn from your mistakes without dwelling on them.

  • Focus on Curiosity: Instead of jumping to judgment, approach situations with curiosity. Ask questions to understand the "why" behind behaviors, both your own and those of others. This important shift in perspective fosters empathy and allows you to find solutions collaboratively.

  • Assume Positive Intent: When interacting with others, presume they have good intentions, even if their actions seem questionable. This fosters trust and strengthens relationships. If something bothers you, have an open and honest conversation, but avoid jumping to negative conclusions.


By prioritizing these strategies, you create a foundation of self-acceptance and a more open-minded approach to leadership. This allows you to approach others with more empathy and understanding, fostering a more positive and productive work environment. -KM
