Year End Inventory

Updated: Oct 23, 2021

Two words that can either get leaders excited or in some cases, cause high levels of anxiety. 𝐘𝐄𝐀𝐑 𝐄𝐍𝐃.

Ok, you didn’t run or click out of the blog… so, go with me here. Lets face it, highs and lows are easily identified for year end when using an inventory list. Take a moment here. Breath. Think, “what went right” and “what went wrong”? Both are important to recognize. We are accustomed to acknowledging accomplishments and achievements, and while that’s important, 𝒊𝒕’𝒔 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒐𝒏𝒍𝒚 𝒐𝒃𝒋𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒎𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒖𝒓𝒆. Unfinished business is another area to explore as it relates to year end. Are there projects that weren’t finished to completion? Are there conversations to be had? Are there internal conflicts in need of resolution? A relationship in need of repair?

Here’s where I want you take note: I firmly believe that how you choose to finish something is how you’ll begin the next thing. So, make the choice, finish strong. Be intentional! Henry Cloud’s book, Necessary Endings, is one of my favorites, and a great resource for you to end 2019 well! I re-read this book every December.

Lastly, look for patterns. Look for how you are showing up at work, home and play. Where is the overlap? Where are you thriving and where do you want to make changes. Brené Brown says “who you are is how you lead”, so who are you? Now is a great time to explore that. Develop your personal mission, vision and core values. Knowing yourself better helps you show up ON PURPOSE instead of just going where the wind blows you. If knowing yourself is something you have never explored, consider booking a session with me in the new year. 2020 is about showing up with your whole heart, doing the hard work, and leaning into courage based leadership!

Cheers to intentional endings and prepared beginnings,

Kristi
